This was used in order to get more of a backstory to how MTV was formed, leading to more knowledge on my end on how the infamous channel got made. This source is being used to understand more about it. As well as the history of how the organization has done. This has been proven useful because it has shaped my paper in ways that explain why MTV was formed as well as giving a general back story on MTV.

This website contained a timeline of inventions throughout the
twentieth century. I used this as a starting point to see when technological
advances came into play that are still used commonly by youth today.

This article explained the strategies and policies that President Reagan and
President Obama had while they were in office. I used this article to give me an
idea of how each of their campaigns and economic plans worked so i could
compare them to each other.

This article talks about drug usage in youth in the 1980's and also identifies some causes for youth drug use. I used this article in order to talk about statistics of drug usage from the 1980's. Also it was used in order to compare reasons for drug usage between youth of today and the 1980's.

This article was used to find out general information about the Just Say NO! program. I used it in order to provide a background for drug prevention methods during the 1980's
Pierce, Lisa. "Generation X on Film and Television (Overview)." Pop Culture Universe: Icons, Idols, Ideas. ABC-CLIO,2012. Web. 1 Dec. 2012.
This piece was used because it is an accurate representation of what films were on at the time, leading to more understanding about how things were then and now. By using this piece, I was able to get a more clear view about what films were big then and why they were and what significance they played in the future. The role that they play is going to be discussed in my paper, and will be talked about throughout it, as without these movies, movies of today would not be as good as they would have been, particularly the influence John Hughes had on teen films to evolve them into what they are today.

This article gives examples of different types of pressure which appear to cause youth to begin to experiment with drugs. I used this article in order to compare causes of youth drug abuse of today with those of the 1980's

This article explains how violent video games cause more violent
behaviors and how this concerns people about our youth. Although video games
were popular in both the 1980’s as well as today, games have become a lot more
violent. Violent games are what sells now, and this can tell us something about
our society. It shows that we are
all under a lot of societal pressure and go to video games to feel like we are
in control.

This article gave insight to the state of the country during the 1980's. It gave
a background of some of the social and political issues and how they were
conquered. I used this article to relate the economic state of the country during
the 80's to today.
